INPUT COMPONENTS
In previous section, you learnt that a electronic system consists of an Input , Process and Output. In this section, you will learn more about the Input part /Input component of an electronic system.
The Input is used for activating the system or for gathering information. Inputs to a electronic system can come from components such as Switches and Sensors. In subsequent section, you learn more about these input components.

types of switches to serve different applications. Table 1 and 2 below shows different types of switches, with their electrical symbol and functions.
Membrane Switch
Besides the convention switches in Table 1 and 2 above, there is another type of switch that does not use moving parts. This membrane switch can be found in ATM machines andin your calculators. It usually consists of a silicon rubber coated with conductive ink. When depressed, it will come in contact with electrical contacts to close a circuit. See Fig. 1 and Fig. 2
