BASIC ELECTRONICS
An electronic system always consist of 3 parts as shown below:
. INPUT - for gathering information. E.g. Microphone used by Teachers.
. PROCESS - decide what to do with information. E.g Amplifier of the school PA system
. OUTPUT - involve switching device on/ off. E.g LED light or Loudspeaker.
Example In a Computer System
Input = Keyboard
Process = Processor (Intel i5 or Intel i7)
Output = Monitor Display (LED screen)
Open Loop System
An electronic system that has no feedback is called an Open Loop System. It does not response to changes in the environment. For example, a calculator.
Close Loop System
Some electronics system has a feedback. These system with feedback, the output is condition is fed back to the input, and the input will adjust to reach a optimum condition at the output. This type of system with feedback is called a Close Loop System. A closed loop system can respond to changes in the environment using feedback from within the system.
For example
The AIr-con system in your house or school. The temperature sensor will sense the room temperature and adjust the Air-con blower to reach the desired set temperature.
Products that make use of electronics will have electrical and electronics components in them. Some of the electronics components that we will learn about in later sections are batteries, LED, Transistor..etc.
